Zahida Zubairu, Finance Manager at Nestlé UK and Ireland, has achieved an honoured placement in the shortlisted Top 10 Workplace Heroes category at the Ethnicity Awards 2023.

The Ethnicity Awards, which began in 2018, celebrate individuals and organisations that support Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities. The awards commend those who determinedly strive for a positive impact on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Elizabeth Ho, Inclusion and Diversity Specialist at Nestlé UK and Ireland, spoke on Zahida’s shortlisting: “Zahida is a founding member and co-chair of the Eradicating Racism Network at Nestlé UK&I. She has created safe spaces for ethnically diverse employees, led the network in coordinating events that celebrate cultural diversity, and educates all on how to be anti-racist.

“Zahida’s leadership has been instrumental in holding the organisation accountable for creating inclusive environments. She does all this in addition to being a successful Finance Manager.

The Workplace Hero category awards champions of Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic diversity who have shown exceptional dedication to fostering inclusion and advancing equity in the workplace. These champions are recognised at any stage in their career for their extraordinary efforts at placing inclusion and wider diversity at the core of everything they do, surpassing their regular duties.

The Ethnicity Awards span multiple categories including Inspirational Leader, Future Leader, Outstanding Employer, Network Group, Champion (Ally), Social Impact, and Exceptional Inclusion.

Following the shortlisting process, a panel of judges will select the overall winner for each category. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on 2 November 2023.
