Our coffee is grown, made and packaged in a way that respects the environment and the people who farm our coffee beans. And we've got some pretty innovative ideas to help you enjoy Nescafé with less waste. We hope that once you've been what we've been doing around the world, we'll have earned a little of your respect too.
Every year, Nescafé buys more than 13 million bags of green coffee from more than 20 countries. We're making a difference to coffee farming communities around the world, with:
- 200+ agronomists and field staff working with farmers
- 100,000+ farmers trained or receiving assistance each year
- 250 million coffee plantlets distributed between 2010 and 2021
- 82% responsibly sourced coffee
And our women's empowerment activities are helping build equality in East Africa's coffee farming communities.
With the Nescafé Plan 2030, we have defined our sustainability ambition for the next decade. We aim to help renew the world of coffee and uplift lives and livelihoods by focusing on regenerative agriculture
We've also reduced our factories' carbon emissions by 46%, and their water withdrawal by 53% since 2010.

From crash to opportunity
The Wall Street Crash sent the price of coffee plummeting, leaving the Brazilian government with an enormous coffee surplus. They turned to us for help preserving the harvest: could we turn the beans into a soluble coffee?
1938
Aroma, perfected
It took nine years of hard work, but eventually our lead scientist on the project invented a coffee powder that captured the bean's true aroma. Thank you Max Morgenthaler!

To the Moon and Back

We develop our Nescafé Dolce Gusto coffee machine, so everyone can savor barista-quality coffee at home.

Supporting farmers
We launch the Nescafé Plan, which means we only ever buy from local growers, helping to bring long-term sustainability to thousands of coffee farms.
