Nestlé Academy wins the Best Selection and Assessment Process award at ISE

Five individuals gathered round a trophy at an award show

Nestlé UK and Ireland, supported by its partner Cappfinity, has won the Best Selection and Assessment Process award at the Institute of Student Employers (ISE) Student Recruitment Conference 2023.

In June 2023, the ISE hosted a two-day conference which provides attendees with the opportunity to come together, learn, and find innovative solutions to recruitment challenges. The event was celebrated with an evening gala dinner hosted by comedian Michael Akadiri at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate Hotel.

Speaking after the event, Evelyn Bate, Head of Academy at Nestlé UK and Ireland, said: “This is a very proud moment in my career. A huge thank you to all my team, especially Olivia Sharp, Abbie Scargill and Emma Lawson for their work on the new process. A special thank you to our partner, Cappfinity, for their expertise and support through the redesign.

“In collaboration with Cappfinity, we worked to integrate the aims of Nestlé’s Force for Good campaign into the recruitment assessment, ensuring that the objectives and values of the business were communicated right from the beginning of a candidate’s journey.”

Through the selection and assessment process, candidates could decide first-hand whether they identified with Nestlé’s values and determine a connection with the organisation.

The ISE judges said: “We appreciated the bespoke nature of the assessment process – how it told a story and gave insight into the different roles. [The] assessment was anchored in the skills required in the future, rather than the capabilities of the incumbent population. The entry also had an impressive equality, diversity, and inclusion impact.”

Nestlé UK and Ireland’s application process was updated to include a shorter application form, with updated demographic data capture to support ease of reporting. A demographic dashboard enables Nestlé to monitor applications at the role level, which allows the recruitment team to respond with the required adjustment of attraction activities.
