We are celebrating an important birthday in the UK this week. The National Health Service (NHS) is 70 years old. That’s 70 years of universal healthcare, free at the point of access, across the entire UK. Here at Nestlé we are proud of the NHS, especially the hardworking people that keep it running 24/7 365 days a year. On Wednesday 4th July “the Nestlé Ninja’s”, a team of Nestlé employees from York, completed a challenging bike ride to show support for one of their colleagues who has breast cancer. The Nestle Ninja’s team are a group of mixed cycling abilities, which made this a perfect team activity to raise money for the ‘Breast Cancer Care’ charity that they have chosen to support. In total the group, consisting of experienced and non-experienced cyclists went 44 miles. Before Wednesday’s cycle, Nestlé Ninjas had already hit their target of £1,000, now, after the event they have raised £3,500, with this figure still going up! Continue reading here.

Nestlé UK and Ireland won the Responsible Business Award for Environmental Sustainability at Business in the Community’s (BITC) 2018 annual ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall in London this week, which was attended by nearly 1000 business leaders and influencers and hosted by Sir Lenny Henry. Nestlé UK and Ireland’s very own Will Frost, a man who spends the majority of his days as an engagement manager at the company’s Gatwick HQ, has gone nutrition to musician for England’s latest World Cup campaign. Will is credited as a co-writer of a new World Cup song, “England I Still Believe” which has been crafted to celebrate Gareth Southgate’s men and their efforts in Russia this summer. The proposals that form the second part of the UK government’s Childhood Obesity Plan, announced today by Jeremy Hunt, demonstrate the ever growing concern that the obesity crisis presents to our society. The food industry has been working with Government and health organisations for many years, largely on a voluntary basis, to reduce salt, sat fat and calories in products and help people make healthier choices.
