How we look after you
We believe healthy employees are happier, more engaged, and the best ambassadors for our purpose and values. Our aim is to inspire our employees to make informed decisions about their health, safety and wellbeing.
We are continuously talking with our employees to find opportunities to raise awareness to different needs and how we can use these experiences to inform decisions on our environment and culture. Below are a few ways we look after our employees:
-
Pastoral Manager Hello, I'm Susannah Wilkie and I'm the Pastoral and Governance Manager for the Academy. We can talk through anything which is happening in and out of work, and I can offer support, advice and direction. The wellbeing of the Academy population is incredibly important to me and I will help in any way I can. -
Onsite gym and classes At our York office, Nestlé's wellness strategy includes 24/7 access to free onsite health and fitness facilities. Exercise offers both immediate and lasting health benefits, from a stronger heart to improved wellbeing. We offer a variety of classes, both virtual and onsite, designed for all levels and interests, in partnership with Nuffield Health. -
Pets At Work We're proud to be a dog friendly workplace, inspired by our Purina pet care brand's belief that pets and people are better together. Dogs are now welcome in five of our UK and Ireland offices, thanks to Purina's efforts to promote this initiative across other companies too. This has led to improved mental health, stronger employee attraction and retention, increased productivity and inspiration, more social interactions, and reduced stress.

Two days paid volunteering Nestlé encourages and supports volunteering among its employees through dedicated volunteering days. These days provide employees with the opportunity to give back to their communities and make a positive impact. Employees can use their two days paid volunteering as a way to support local initiatives, charitable organisations, and community development. By participating in volunteering days, Nestlé employees can contribute their time, skills, and resources to create meaningful change and foster a spirit of community engagement and social responsibility. -
Relocation financial support Financial support is available to help graduates, placements and apprentices with relocation if required for the role. A payment of £2,000 will be given to support the cost of moving, which is available to anyone who needs to relocate due to being more than one hour or 40 miles away from the work site. We will also run a 'Relocation Support Call' with past graduates and apprentices so they can share their experiences, offer advice and answer any questions you may have. -
Wellbeing resources and classes Nestlé Academy has partnered with Gen. Healthy Minds to bring early talent a series of free mental health and wellbeing masterclasses. Instead of spotting the signs of mental ill health, Gen. Healthy Minds provides resources to support young people adopt positive behaviours that prevent an unhealthy mindset.Find out more here

At Nestlé we prioritise a healthy work-life balance by adapting our work environment to fit your needs. We've embraced a hybrid work model, allowing flexibility between home and office, based on your role and team needs. While remote work brings efficiency, we value the office experience for its opportunities in networking, personal growth and mental wellbeing. To enjoy a well-rounded experience, we recommend spending a minimum of one day per week in the office.
Occasionally, our business can be demanding and we may need to work extra time. To ensure they don't miss out, we encourage all office-based permanent colleagues when they have worked over to take one paid flex day a month, on top of their annual leave allowance.
We support our employees to recognise and get help when they may need that extra support. We have a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme offering 24/7 psychological support; we have trained our line managers in supporting their team's mental wellbeing and we have enlisted over 300 mental health first aiders across all areas of our business.
As part of your on-boarding journey, you will be introduced to many people that will welcome you to Nestlé and offer their guidance. Before you join you will be connected with a "buddy", a past graduate or apprentice that has been in your shoes and can offer personalised support. Answering your questions and sharing their experiences to put you at ease. It is important for us that you do not feel alone, and that you have a familiar and friendly face to reach out to.
Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are voluntary employee-led groups that bring together individuals with shared characteristics, backgrounds, or interests. They promote diversity, inclusion, and collaboration within the organisation. Anyone can, and is encouraged, to join the networks to build a deeper understanding of the ERGs topics. Awareness is key!
