One Day, One Nestlé, ONE WORLD.

Audience face one world stage in a question and answer section

Today Nestlé UK had their first ‘ONE WORLD’ event. The event, created by a small group of passionate Nestlé people, was inspired by the global One Young World summit and created with the intention to inspire and empower future leaders from around the business about important topics affecting the world today.

In total more than 140 passionate potential future leaders from around the country came to Gatwick, Nestlé UK and Ireland’s HQ to learn, share ideas and be inspired.

The day was centred around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and what can be achieved to empower individuals to take personal responsibility for the future.
In 2015, the UN launched the SDGs to focus the work of sustainability on 17 key areas that will help end poverty, improve health and tackle climate change. As a company, Nestlé helped to shape the SDGs and are working hard to achieve them.

ONE WORLD brought in nine external experts;  ranging from entrepreneurs working in reducing food waste, architects looking at the future of food and youth champions. They showed what they are doing outside of Nestlé and helped to inspire the attendees, showing that everyone can take action, and everyone should feel empowered to help in areas they are passionate about, inside and outside of work.

Head of Sustainability for Nestlé UK and Ireland, Anna Turrell said: "It was such an inspiring and energising day with everyone getting engaged on relevant themes from urban agriculture to the circular economy, food waste and tackling inequality. Hearing personal stories from individuals and organisations working to tackle some of these big societal challenges really helps us to frame the action we can take within the business. It was great to have people from across all the country attend, including our factories and head offices."
