To celebrate raising £135,000 for their Charity of the Year, Nestlé UK CEO & Chairman, Paul Grimwood and Alzheimer's Society, Chief Executive, Jeremy Hughes raised a cup of coffee at the food company’s HQ in Croydon on 11th May. During the meeting, Paul Grimwood handed over a supply of Nescafe and Kit Kats for dementia cafes based near Nestlé sites across the UK.
Alzheimer’s Society was selected as the company’s Charity of the Year partner 2011 and Nestlé staff are already half–way to their fundraising target of £250,000.
Paul Grimwood, CEO & Chairman of Nestlé UK, said: 'Alzheimer's Society does tremendous work supporting the 750,000 people with dementia and those who care for them. I am delighted that our staff have already reached over half our target amount in such a short space of time and I am confident we will reach our goal with all the events we have already got lined up over the coming months.”
The money has been raised by staff at Nestlé sites across the UK and has included one employee running over 200 miles in four days from the Nestlé York to the Croydon offices. In addition, employees are taking part in the York 10K, climbing the Three Peaks and hosting an all site Go Blue Day. Other events are now in the final planning stages including a site–to–site cycle challenge when teams from each Nestlé office will cross the country from one Nestlé site to another over a two week period culminating in the grand finale of cycling through London and finishing at St. George’s house in Croydon on 14th July.
