Nestlé Professional in the UK & Ireland has claimed two top spots at the PETA Vegan Food Awards 2020. Two dishes made with Garden Gourmet, Nestlé plant-based meat alternatives – Subway’s Meatless Meatball Marinara and Pukka Pie’s Vegan Chicken & Mushroom pie – have won the best vegan sandwich and best vegan pie at the annual awards.
Subway’s Meatless Meatball Marinara sandwich, which launched in early 2020, features four vegan Garden Gourmet meatballs covered with the chain’s popular marinara sauce and topped with a vegan cheese. Cased in a light puff pastry, Pukka Pie’s Vegan Chicken & Mushroom pie is stuffed with tender, savoury chunks of soya protein and sliced mushrooms in a creamy vegan sauce, and is available in selected Tesco, Asda, Morrison’s and Sainsbury’s stores.
Now in its eight year, the PETA Vegan Food Awards crown the best vegan products within the food & drinks industry including best vegan chicken, best vegan mayo, best vegan cheese and more. The charity’s award looks to highlight restaurants, supermarkets and food & drinks manufacturers (big and small) as they continue to meet the ever-growing demand for vegan food.
