Safeguarding Water
As our agricultural supply chains form 95% of our water footprint, it is crucial that we take action to safeguard this across the wider water systems. Because farmers rely on water to grow the crops for our ingredients, protecting and preserving the water resources we share with others is a high priority for us, alongside improving water usage in our factories.
At our sites in the UK and Ireland, we’ve improved our water use efficiency by 18% since 2018, building on sizable efficiencies achieved over the preceding decade, by 66% since 2007, and we continue to focus on actions that deliver better outcomes for the wider community, the water-rich environment and other water users, as well as for our business.
How we’re helping to protect water resources locally
In Pembrokeshire, where we bottle Princes Gate and Nestlé Pure Life waters, we’re working with First Milk to support regenerative agriculture across more than 20 dairy farms.
Practices like rotational grazing and increasing grassland diversity will help to improve soil health, reduce water runoff and increase infiltration, with the aim of capturing up to 250 million litres of groundwater every year.

Nestlé Waters & Premium Beverages Commitment to Water Stewardship and Regeneration
In 2025, Nestlé Waters & Premium Beverages achieved its global commitment to have all bottling site certified to the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) Standard. In the UK, the bottling site in Narberth, Pembrokeshire has achieved Core status in 2025. In 2021, the bottling site in Buxton, Derbyshire was the first in the UK to achieve the highest possible, Platinum certification and maintained the status in 2024.
And the water regeneration work goes beyond the factory walls into the wider catchment. At Nestlé Waters & Premium Beverages, we are working with partners and local communities to help protect, restore and return more water than we use in our operations. This includes finding collective solutions to specific local challenges to help improve water quality or quantity.

River Ecclesbourne By restoring the River Ecclesbourne back to its original course to bypass a weir we have helped open over 28km of the river for fish migration. In 2025, the discovery of parr confirmed that Atlantic salmon have successfully spawned in the upper reaches of the river for the first time in more than 100 years.Watch the video

Wallis Pond By restoring an old millpond that has become silted up over the years through re-digging, de-silting, and replacing an old sluice gate to help improve the water quality and diversity of the habitat.Watch the video
