Nestlé attends Dublin Pride for the first time

Over 60 Nestlé people, joined by their family and friends from across Ireland and the UK gathered in the Irish capital yesterday (Saturday 29th June) to attend Dublin Pride, the biggest celebration of LGBT+ life on the island of Ireland.

Organised by Nestlé’s UK & Ireland’s LGBT+ network, the group, adorned in rainbow colours and the iconic Nestlé Nest logo, assembled and paraded across Dublin, passing iconic landmarks like The Spire, General Post Office, across the River Liffey and finishing at Merrion Square.

The Nestlé team was one of over 150 groups in the parade, which included Ireland's Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Leo Varadkar, who joined members of the An Garda Síochána (police) and their counterparts from Northern Ireland, who marched in their uniform for the first time.

Speaking as he joined the parade, Country Business Manager for Ireland Andrew Shaw said: “I’m delighted to join my Nestlé Ireland colleagues participating in the Dublin Pride parade today. It’s an event we are very proud to support as a company. As a global and multicultural company, we are committed to promoting the inclusion of all communities into our workforce. Diversity, inclusion, respect, and equality are core values at Nestlé Ireland. Our LGBT+ Network is an integral part of our wider D&I policy which has resulted in Nestlé having a welcoming, inclusive and respectful culture.”

Inclusion and Belonging are key priorities for Nestlé and the business supports the UN’s LGBTI Standards of Conduct for Business. Since 2017, Nestlé has been Stonewall Global Diversity Champions. The scheme provides Nestlé, which employs around 8,000 people at factories and offices across the UK and Ireland, with access to the latest expert support & resources from the world’s formative LGBT+ charity.

Nestlé's LGBT+ network focus now turns to Brighton, where they will march with colleagues and friends, allies and the community in their largest numbers yet for Brighton Pride on Saturday 3rd August.
