If you’re coming to the end of a design degree and thinking ahead to your career then the Product Design Placement here at Nestlé Product Technology Centre could be what you’re looking for. Over 12 months it’ll give you a taste of life in Product Design at the world’s biggest food and beverage manufacturer so you can discover exactly the kind of role you might do in the future.

Come and join us in York where the mentoring of our experts will fine-tune your ambitions and give you skills you need to fulfil them.

You’ll join our Front End Innovation Team, where you’ll be treated like any other team member and the fresh perspective you bring will be valued and most welcome. Collaborating with confectioners and colleagues in consumer insights and packaging information, you’ll work on live projects, bringing ideas to life through rapid prototyping and supporting product teams with their latest work.

You’ll put your university work into practice here. It’ll bring into focus how the skills you’ve learnt so far could have a real impact at a global company. And, if you don’t already know how things like graphic design, laser cutting, packaging mock-ups, and 3D printing work in practice, you will by the end of the placement.

Ideally, you’ll be in the penultimate year of a design degree and looking to get some practical experience under your belt before you start your final year. You’ll have a good understanding of CAD software (that could be SolidWorkd, Fusion or another) and you’ll need to be up to speed with Photoshop and Illustrator. Just as important is that you’ll take hold of this opportunity to learn from real industry experts with both hands. We want to meet people who have set goals for their career and are driving towards them.

You’ll come away with substantial work experience with some of the world’s best-known brands like KitKat, Smarties and Aero. You’ll also benefit not only from the mentorship of our experts but also stakeholder feedback on the projects you complete. Our placement is geared towards nurturing your talent and it’ll take you a long way towards fulfilling your potential as a professional. It’ll also give you a real advantage when it comes to applying for our Graduate Scheme after graduation (as many of our placement students do).

You’ll also enjoy the feelgood factor that comes with Creating Shared Value (CSV) with the work you do.
