Sanpellegrino Sparkling Fruit Beverages relaunch with 40% less sugar

  • Two years of research and recipe development sees approximately 40% total sugar removed across the premium adult soft drinks range
  • New recipes to be rolled out from April, retaining the unique and unmistakable flavour


This Spring, Sanpellegrino Sparkling Fruit Beverages will begin the relaunch of its range, following ongoing recipe reformulation that began in 2015 when 10% of the total sugar content was removed from its products. Available across the UK range, the new recipes will have approximately 40% less sugar than the previous recipes. 

Over the past two years, Sanpellegrino has worked hard to guarantee that the unmistakable and unique taste loved by consumers remains unaffected, with thorough taste tests resulting in positive feedback. 

The recipe change will see a proportion of the original added sugar replaced with stevia which is sourced from a natural plant origin.  By using stevia, the amount of sugar is significantly reduced to less than 5g/100ml. Furthermore, the newly improved recipes will reduce the number of calories in each can to 70, approximately 60 calories less than the current recipes.

We’ve not only taken into consideration the change in our customers’ attitudes towards health and wellbeing, we’ve listened closely to ensure each new recipe retains the unmistakable and unique taste they know and love.”

The new Sanpellegrino Sparkling Fruit Beverages will be available nationwide from April. Limonata, Aranciata and Aranciata Rossa will be the first reformulated products available in the UK range.
