Nestlé Girvan has donated £1,168 to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), a charity that saves lives at sea through lifeboat search and rescue, lifeguard provision, water safety education, and flood rescue.

The Girvan factory team chose to donate to the RNLI Girvan Lifeboat Station as they value the charity’s integral services which aid the local community and provide safety cover off the Southwest coast of Scotland.

Over the course of last year, the Girvan factory, which supplies milk crumb for Nestlé’s confectionery factories in York, Fawdon, and Halifax, has used various fundraising methods through staff and community participation. In April, the factory ran a Grand National sweepstake, in September they participated in a sponsored hill walk and in October they hosted a bingo night.

Operations Manager at the Girvan Factory, Celia Mitchell, wished to give thanks to the RNLI Girvan-based charity: “Nestlé is committed to being a force for food, and we at the Girvan Factory wanted to show gratitude to a force of good within our local community. The RNLI is a vital organisation, and we hope this donation will support the continuation of their extraordinary work.”

John Tait, volunteer crew member and Treasurer at RNLI, said: “Girvan RNLI Lifeboat Station are extremely grateful to Nestlé Girvan and their employees for selecting us as their chosen charity in 2022. The past few years have been difficult for everyone, so to receive this generous donation is fantastic. It is also an honour to be associated with the world’s largest food and beverage company, who’s ongoing local support has helped many local groups and charities like ourselves.”
