This week, Nestlé Tutbury factory hosted its annual Bees and Butterflies event, a fun-filled community event for children of all ages up to 12 years. The day was packed with outdoor activities such as craft workshops, nature trails, musicians, willow weaving and games.
Jane Downes, Tutbury Factory Staff Shop Assistant from Nestlé Tutbury, is a local resident of the village who has organised the event for the last four years. Jane began putting the Bees and Butterflies event together to give families a day of free activities during the summer holidays, and encourage children to enjoy some fresh air and craftmaking.
A range of craft workshops were open to the public, including willow weaving and clay modelling, hosted by local artists who work with natural materials. All the artists volunteered their time to provide workshops for the children throughout the day.
Free refreshments were served throughout the day, including some of the latest releases from the Nescafé summer range, including Nescafé Ready to Drink Iced Coffee and Nescafé Espresso Concentrated Iced Coffee, for adults to enjoy.
Jane said: “It’s wonderful to see so many people show up for a day of outdoor activities here at our Nestlé Tutbury site. The Bees and Butterflies event is one of the many ways in which we bring the local community together, and this one is so special because it gives young people an opportunity to have fun outside and even learn a craft too.”
Coming into its fourth year, the event showcases the thriving community spirit of the Tutbury and Hatton region. Nestlé Tutbury has kept its connection with the region through community events and initiatives and Nestlé Tutbury employees take pride in all the ways in which they support their community, all of this helps make Nestlé what it is today.
Nestlé Tutbury has a rich coffee heritage. Home to one of the world’s most recognisable coffee brands, Nescafé, the factory has been in operation since 1938. In honour of this rich heritage, Nestlé has launched its new ‘Good for Britain, Good for the Future’ campaign, which shines a light on its deep-rooted connections to local communities and heritage, particularly in Tutbury. The campaign spotlights the people who make Nestlé – generations of skilled factory teams, farming families who have supplied British milk for decades, and local communities who have grown up alongside its sites across the country. At the heart of the campaign is a celebration of the shared pride and purpose that connects Nestlé and local communities together, told through the real stories of the people behind the brands.
As part of the campaign, Nestlé took a closer look at the incredible 80-year history of British heritage behind Nescafé which can be seen here.
