Buxton site welcomes local MP

Buxton facility
Back to Press releases

Managing Director Grant McKenzie of Nestlé Waters UK welcomed MP for High Peak Robert Largan, at the Buxton facility on Wednesday (5 October) which bottles Buxton natural mineral water and Nestlé Pure Life spring water.

Mr Largan was given a tour of the factory and new warehouse with Factory Manager Jez McInerney and Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Hayley Lloyd House. He heard about the simple process of bottling the natural source waters and watched products travel down the production line before being shown the brand-new storage facilities and automated technology being used to transform the efficiency of the on-site operation.

This is all part of the recent £26m investment to make the site more efficient, reduce transport miles and drive down carbon emissions as Nestlé Waters aim to become carbon neutral by 2025.

He also heard about the ongoing work to increase biodiversity around the factory in the newly landscaped nature reserve, as well as support for youth and skills in the local area.

The tour continued to the Lightwood site where Mr Largan was shown work happening  to protect the land and water catchment, promote regeneration of the water cycles and help slow water flow into the River Wye, protecting the Buxton area from future flooding.

Factory Manager Jez McInerney said: "It was great to meet Robert Largan and welcome him to our Buxton factory which is at the heart of his constituency. It was a wonderful opportunity to show Robert all the work we have been doing since he came to office in 2019 to transform the site and upskill the team now we have incorporated AGVs into our operation."

MP Robert Largan said: "I enjoyed talking to team at the Nestlé Waters bottling plant and seeing their new warehousing tech in action.

"It was also great to discuss their plans for flood mitigation at Lightwood, which I hope will make a real difference for residents of Lightwood Road and beyond.

"Nestlé Waters has signed up to take part later this month in my High Peak Jobs & Apprenticeships Fair too, which is brilliant news.

"Their apprenticeship scheme is fantastic, and I'm excited to have secured another major local employer to take part in the event - one more route through which our young people will acquire new skills whilst earning a good wage."
