Nestlé Ireland and Nespresso joined forces for the annual “Helping Hands” volunteer day as part of its three-year partnership with charity partner, Barretstown, Ireland’s largest provider of psychosocial care to seriously ill children and young adults.
Now into its second year, a team of over 55 Nestlé Ireland employees joined forces at the Barretstown campus in Co. Kildare to help the team with an extensive campus maintenance programme.
Following an early-morning on-site briefing, teams were assigned and allocated workstations, helping with a range of tasks from painting fences and cleaning accommodation, to weeding and gardening. The work is a vital part of the upkeep of Barretstown’s state-of-the-art campus which provides residential camps to seriously ill children and families.
Each ‘Helping Hands’ volunteer day offers employees a meaningful opportunity to engage with Barretstown’s work showcasing its lasting impact on the lives of children and families across the country. The day concluded with a tree planting ceremony, as a mark of the importance of growth and renewal.
Kieran Conroy, Country Manager, Nestlé Ireland said: “Our partnership with Barretstown provides us with an opportunity to give back and to make a positive impact in the lives of people and communities. The Helping Hands volunteer day is one of the most anticipated moments in the calendar for colleagues who value the opportunity to experience first-hand the care, dedication, and effort that makes Barretstown such a unique and special place.
“Meeting the people behind the work gave everyone a real appreciation for the life-changing impact Barretstown has on thousands of children and families every year. We’re proud to continue building on this relationship and to strengthen the partnership year-on-year. “
