Celebrating Youth Skills Development

World Youth Skills Day recognises the importance of equipping young people with skills and training for employment and career development. The United Nations hosts an event each year on the need for education and training, and businesses across the globe celebrate the importance of investing in the younger generation and preparing them for the professional world.

At Nestlé, we are passionate about supporting youth skills development, both on a professional and personal level. For years we have been committed to the next generation of professionals in a variety of areas; our Nestlé Academy schemes, which include placements and apprenticeships as well as supporting those in external education through our hospitality competition, Toque d’Or.

Nestlé Academy

Each year, through our apprenticeship and graduate programmes, we welcome school and university leavers into the Nestlé Academy to kick start their career. During their time at Nestlé we offer real experience and relevant training to support development and their interests in all areas of business.

This World Youth Skills Day we caught up with some of our current cohort to find out about the key skills they are developing at Nestlé. Watch the video here.

Toque d’Or

As the world’s largest food and drinks manufacturer, we work with businesses of all shapes and sizes, including those in the hospitality industry. Through Nestlé Professional Toque d’Or we provide the next generation of hospitality professionals with the chance to experience the breadth of opportunities the industry has to offer, whilst enhancing their learning experience. For 2020, Toque d’Or has gone digital to continue this longstanding commitment. We spoke to some alumni to find out how they are currently using the skills they gained from taking part in the competition:
