Easter is around the corner and Nestlé’s factories in Halifax and Fawdon have been in full swing since September making millions of chocolate and mini eggs.
The lead up to the Easter season is one of the busiest periods for the factories and production runs for 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
This year, Nestlé’s factory in Halifax made a staggering 14.7 million Easter eggs, including KitKat, Smarties, Aero, Rolo and Lion branded eggs.
It took more than 1,500 tonnes of chocolate and a real team effort to manage the complex and high-tech process required to make such a huge amount of Easter eggs.

In addition, 906 tonnes of mini eggs rolled out of Nestlé’s Fawdon factory this year. This is an astounding 252 million individual mini eggs, including white chocolate Milkybar Mini Eggs and Orange Smarties Mini Eggs with the shell infused with natural orange oil to give it its distinctive taste.
That is a lot of eggs! How egg-citing!
