Three women stand together on stage accepting an award

Nestlé UK and Ireland is proud to be the principal sponsor of the Women in Agriculture Awards, an event dedicated to honouring the trailblazing women leading the way in UK farming. The year, we were particularly excited to sponsor the Farming Woman of the Year Award, celebrating an outstanding individual who has made a significant impact in agriculture over the past year.

The awards ceremony took place on Tuesday 6th May at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London, attended by around 300 guests, including our very own representatives from Nestlé UK and Ireland [including  Jane Aldridge, Managing Director for Coffee, Director of Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Josephine Bradley and Community Regeneration Manager Robin Sundaram, as well as our guests from our farming collaborations from the Allerton Project and First Milk.

Congratulations to Katie-Rose Davies for winning the Farming Woman of the Year Award! Katie has not only excelled on her own farm but has also raised awareness about broader farming issues, benefiting the entire sector. This award is a testament to the vital role women plain in agriculture and we are honoured to celebrate her achievements.

Since 2003, we have collaborated with this British farmer-owned dairy co-operative to source high-quality milk from local families within a 50-mile radius of our factories in Cumbria and Ayrshire, using about 1% of the UK’s milk supply for our coffee and confectionery products.

First Milk launched its Women in Agriculture group in recognition of the vital role women play in farming. With around 60 members, this group facilitates knowledge sharing and mutual support among female members and farm staff. Additionally, First Milk runs a Next Generation programme, empowering more than 200 young members, including Jess Ellwood from Brough Castle Farm in Cumbria, who, along with her father David, supplies fresh milk for our Nescafé frothy coffees.

Robin Sundaram, Community Regeneration Manager at Nestlé UK and Ireland, said: “At Nestlé, we understand that farming is at the heart of our business. By working with First Milk, we aim to better understand the challenges women face and how we can support them. We are committed to celebrating the vital role of female farmers in shaping the future of agriculture. Thank you to these women in agriculture for their profound impact on our industry and communities.”
