Nestlé has scooped the prestigious Product of the Year Award 2021 with Starbucks® by Nespresso.

Today (Wednesday 27 January 2021), Starbucks® by Nespresso receives its Product of the Year Award 2021 in the coffee pod category. Product of the Year is a consumer award that specifically calls out product innovations and is voted for by more than 10,000 shoppers in an independent, consumer-led research run by Kantar.

In 2019, through the Global Coffee Alliance, Nestlé and Starbucks launched Starbucks® by Nespresso, uniting high-quality Starbucks® coffee with the Nespresso Original system to elevate the at-home coffee experience. Since then, and more recently throughout the global pandemic, Nestlé’s partnership with Starbucks has helped to strengthen its global leadership position in the coffee business, particularly at a time when coffee consumption has seen an increase.

Isabelle Fournier, Starbucks Marketing Lead at Nestlé UK & Ireland said: “I am so pleased to see Starbucks® by Nespresso receive a ‘Product of the Year 2021’ Award. In an increasingly competitive segment, this recognition is a testament to the complementary strengths of Starbucks and Nestlé to be able to create the ultimate product experience for customers and further accelerates our leadership position in the market.”

Winners can use the Product of the Year logo across all packaging, marketing, advertising, and communications for 12 months. From today (Wednesday 27 January 2021), all winners will be included in features in The Sun, Woman’s Own, Now Magazine, Woman, Woman’s Weekly, Netmums, Campaign, and many more – as well as a variety of bloggers, vloggers, and social media influencers – media coverage worth over £750,000.

Previous Product of the Year Award winners typically see a strong sales uplift immediately following their win, as 86% of shoppers are more likely to buy a product bearing the Product of the Year logo. Sales tend to uplift by 10-15% on average, with some brands seeing increases as high as 135%.

Helga Slater, Managing Director at Product of the Year said: “Congratulations to Starbucks® by Nespresso on winning the coffee pod category. With many of us working from home, products like Starbucks® by Nespresso coffee pods allow us to bring a little normality of our old routine of grabbing a coffee on the go – into our homes. Product of the Year celebrate and champion products like these that make our everyday lives that bit brighter and more manageable.”
