In an awards event like never before, the Nestlé Professional Toque d’Or 2020 winners were announced. Hosted by Mark Durden-Smith and streamed on YouTube, the awards were watched by many, including; those connected to the competition and industry as well supporters of the competition.
Having now completed its 32nd year, Toque d’Or continues to be one of the UK&I’s most influential hospitality industry competitions, bridging the gap between the theories of the classroom, work based learning and the exciting reality of the industry. 2020 has been a landmark year for Toque d’Or, with the competition having to move to a digital format due to the challenges of COVID-19. Following the National Heats, the competition went completely digital with Instagram based challenges then a virtual Finals which included the challenge of setting up a click and collect business.
Camila Cabral, Events Manager at Nestlé Professional said “We are really proud that Nestlé Professional Toque d’Or has moved with the times and to now be delivering a series of relevant digital challenges which will provide finalists with the tools needed to learn and adapt to the changes taking place in the hospitality industry.”
During the awards, viewers were given insight into the challenges that finalists faced during this year’s competition, finalists were interviewed about their Toque d’Or journey and, after the long wait, this year’s winners were announced.
