Nestlé video series takes viewers from Buxton to York via Dalston, Halifax and Wisbech

Back to Press releases

A series of new videos that showcase five different UK communities have been released this week to celebrate more than 150 years of food and drink manufacturer, Nestlé, being at the heart of communities across the country.

Each of the films looks at the sights, sounds and history of just one of the 18 UK and Irish locations where Nestlé does business. A Nestlé employee from each site takes the viewer on a guided tour of the local area before exploring some of the ways that Nestlé is working with partners, suppliers and farmers to support these communities.

The five communities featured are:

Buxton – presented by Scott Reid, Environment and Sustainability Officer Buxton is where more than two million bottles of water are produced every day in a state-of-the-art factory which opened in 2013 after a £35 million pound investment to move production to a modern site at Waterswallows.

Dalston, Cumbria – presented by Paul Norris, Factory Performance Specialist Site of a Nestlé factory since 1962 which has gone from producing milk powder and sweetened condensed milk to being the home of Nescafé frothy coffee. The factory has seen more than £70m of investment in recent years.

Halifax – presented by Jo Lewis, Manufacturing Excellence Manager The West Yorkshire town where Quality Street was invented by John and Violet Mackintosh and where around 12.5 million individual Quality Street sweets are still made every day during peak season.

Wisbech – presented by Martin Agger, Logistics Manager Location of a Nestlé Purina Petcare factory where Felix, the UK’s number one selling pet food brand, is just one of the products manufactured by a workforce of around 600 people made up of more than 20 different nationalities.

York – presented by Alex Hutchinson, Archivist and Historian. A city packed with history, especially when it comes to chocolate, where Rowntree’s and its famous brands like KitKat became world-renowned. Today the site is home to Nestlé’s UK confectionery business as well as a number of head office functions and the global R&D centre for confectionery.

Nestlé UK and Ireland CEO , Stefano Agostini says:

“The well-known brands that make up Nestlé have been a part of life in this country for more than a century. But beyond our products we are also a major UK employer and a very proud manufacturer. “Every time I visit one of our sites across the UK and Ireland I find people who are incredibly proud about where they live and work and passionate about the ways that they, and our organisation as a whole, can contribute to the local community. That is what we are celebrating through this video series.”
