Nestlé and Eddie Stobart wins IGD Food Industry Award

Back to Press releases

On Tuesday 11 October,  Nestlé and Eddie Stobart were awarded the ECR Award for Sustainable Distribution at the prestigious IGD Food Industry Awards.

This award is presented to the company that has made a real and lasting difference in the supply chain, resulting in the running of ‘fewer’ or ‘friendlier’ miles and recognises achievements in a wide range of areas from sustainability and supply chain excellence, to consumer understanding and social innovation.

Nestlé and Eddie Stobart have been working together to field test three cutting edge Volvo methane/diesel dual fuel trucks in real life work scenarios. The aim is to understand how the trucks perform against their pure diesel counterparts, how far the technology can be pushed and what the environmental benefits are. The pilot project will help both companies determine their future vehicle procurement strategies.

Joanne Denney-Finch, Chief Executive, IGD said: “The Food Industry Awards recognise the best-in-class and demonstrate some of the most exciting new thinking in food and grocery. This year’s awards attracted the highest level of entries both in terms of quantity and quality. Our world class industry has a great story to tell and we should celebrate with great pride those companies and individuals that are putting their stamp on the industry.”
