Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and Nestlé Waters UK are thrilled to announce they are continuing the Get Better with Nature project for a fifth year.

The wellbeing programme, which focuses on people in and around Buxton, has reached more people year on year as it becomes more established. Diane Gould, People Engagement Officer Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, said, “Last year we held a community Day of Action activity where over 300 people from Buxton all came together to celebrate nature at a free, fun community event which was just fantastic.”

In 2018, Get Better with Nature enabled the Trust’s toddler sessions known as Nature Tots come to Buxton for the first time. Working with Peak District National Park Authority, the Junior Ranger programme also continued for another year, rolling out more Forest Schools, which meant that more local children got to experience and enjoy nature.

Another part of the programme also sees the Trust working with The Grapevine Wellbeing Centre in Buxton, which offers wellbeing and mental health support to individuals.

Nestlé Waters said, “We are delighted to be working with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust to deliver this important community programme for Buxton for a fifth year. For 2019, together we have incorporated activities focused on water to show how important caring for water also is for the environment and future generations. We’d encourage the local community to get involved and perhaps try something new whilst helping to improve the local environment at the same time.”

Get Better with Nature has been designed to promote an understanding of nature and the benefits it can have on our health and wellbeing. Working with Buxton's local businesses, schools and charities to encourage more people to make the most of interacting with nature. For 2019 the programme will incorporate new initiatives promoting water stewardship, highlighting how precious a resource water is, and the importance it has on biodiversity.
