Nestlé Ireland have donated over €86,000 to Pieta, a charity which supports people who are in suicidal distress, those who engage in self-harm, and those bereaved by suicide.

As part of their community commitment initiatives, Nestlé Ireland partnered with Pieta, as their chosen charity from 2019 to 2021. During this time and despite the huge difficulties posed by Covid, staff raised significant funds for Pieta, through both individual and collective efforts and awareness not only of the work of Pieta but so too the broader topic of mental health and well-being.

Country Manager Kieran Conroy said, “We were proud to support the work of Pieta and to help an organisation which carries out such incredible work in the community. Covid-19 had a significant impact on many of the plans, but despite the difficulties presented by the global pandemic, everyone rose to the challenge and worked hard to bring the partnership to life.  During the pandemic Pieta became a cornerstone of support for so many coping with a changed world. They are to be commended for their swift and agile response to ensuring they still provided services throughout Covid to those who needed their support.”

Established in 2006, Pieta has over 20 locations across the country providing free therapeutic support to people who are experiencing suicidal ideation, self-harm or have attempted suicide. In 2020 alone, they provided 52,000 hours of intervention, managed 70,000 crisis support calls and supported 600 households impacted by the loss of a loved one by suicide.
