Our 4,200 sites worldwide are eliminating single-use plastics that can’t be recycled or reused and replacing them with materials that can. We ensure that there’s a way to collect and handle recyclable materials where they’re used. And we’re communicating loud and clear our commitment to recycling.
Every litter bit helps
Globally, our employees at all levels have dedicated their volunteering days to the removal of litter. To mark World Oceans Day 2019, more than 5,000 Nestlé employees and their families gathered in 66 different locations to remove plastic waste from local water bodies. Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean
Nestlé Confectionery was a headline partner for Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean campaign in 2021.
We joined the Daily Mail, Mars, Wrigley and the People’s Postcode Lottery to
encourage the public to clean up their local area and help achieve a million miles of litter picking.
Our employees were encouraged to take part in litter picking in their local community, record their miles and the rubbish they collect. Employees were able to use their volunteering hours if they want to participate during work hours.

Our flexible friends
We’ve joined with Ella’s Kitchen, Mars, Ecover and Taylors of Harrogate to form the Flexible Packaging Consortium. Collectively, we commissioned a report from waste and recycling experts SUEZ.
The report recommends that flexible packaging for recycling be brought into kerbside collections across the UK from 2023. Currently around 215 billion items of flexible plastic packaging, such as confectionery wrappers, pet and baby food pouches, bread bags and crisp packets, are on the market in the UK each year. Most is sent to landfill.
