I joined Nestle just over 10 years ago, I have always worked within packaging, I started as a Packaging Specialist supporting Nestlé Professional and Food. I then moved up to York to join the Confectionery team as Packaging Innovation Manager, after a few years I moved into my current role as Group Packaging Manager.

I truly do love my job, no day is exactly the same. My current role is focussed on a number of different aspects, including leading on packaging sustainability in the UK. This is something I am personally very passionate about and think the role with can play as a business through driving change both on packaging design and the design of infrastructure will make a real difference.

Balanced teams help to draw out more strengths and advantages and reduce the possibility of missing opportunities. This helps to facilitate the teams and individuals reaching their goals in a more efficient manner and therefore benefitting the business. I really enjoy leading and being part of a wider team. Essentially, I believe that by drawing on the widest range of resources that we have, we can be more effective at targeting our goals.

Who has inspired you either personally or professionally?

Dame Ellen MacArthur – a truly inspirational lady. She grew up not far from where I was raised in Derbyshire. At 24 years old she became the youngest women to complete the Vendée Globe (a round the world sailing race). Four years late she became the fastest person to circumvent navigate the earth by sea solo. The courage to undertake such challenges alone is awe-inspiring. To then go on to create the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and drive the agenda on the circular economy and plastics, bringing together over 250 businesses and organisations to address plastic waste and pollution through the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment, is just amazing.
