    Are these the oldest Hallowe'en sweets in Britain?

    Last autumn we received the kind donation of Brian Sollitt’s packaging collection (for more information on Brian ‘Mr After Eight’ Sollitt click here). Brian’s collection was a treasure trove of artefacts, but among the most interesting were these rare Black Magic boxes.

    Charlie Chaplin and the Chocolate Factory

    We’re wrestling with a mystery here in the archive this week and it involves Charlie Chaplin and one of our chocolate factories. Ninety-eight years ago the Peter, Cailler, Kohler chocolate company bought themselves a cocoa factory down in London with an unusual back story.
