Nespresso is bringing back lost coffees with a new programme designed to restore coffee farming in regions where the industry is under threat.
The programme, unveiled in London earlier this week, will see Nespresso invest CHF 10m over the next five years to revive the coffee industries in selected countries. Nespresso will work with partners and farmers in regions that have been blighted by conflicts, economic hardships or environmental disasters.
Two new single-origin coffees, one from Eastern Zimbabwe and one from Caquetá, Colombia, are on sale from today under the new ‘Reviving Origins’ range thanks to work and investment already undertaken through Nespresso’s AAA Sustainable Quality™ programme.
Described as exquisite, rare and virtually unknown; these coffees have been slowly disappearing for decades but are now newly available for Nespresso customers around the world to try.
The ‘Reviving Origins’ programme and coffees were showcased at an exclusive event in Central London which also marked the opening of a pop-up exhibition of specially commissioned augmented reality photography.
National Geographic photographer, Rena Effendi, was asked by Nespresso to document the impact of ‘Reviving Origins’ in Zimbabwe and Colombia and her images can be seen for a limited time at the London pop-up at the Rosenfeld Porcini gallery in Fitzrovia or online at the National Geographic website.

The two coffees, TAMUKA mu Zimbabwe and ESPERANZA de COLOMBIA, are available now while the London pop-up exhibition runs until Sunday 12th May. For more information read the full Nespresso press release.
