Le Tour Comes To York

We’re used to Grand Departs here at the York Nestlé factory. One statistic that we’ve turned up suggests that during the mid-20th century we had to find room in our cycle sheds for 8,000 employees bicycles at a time. It is possible; including all of our seasonal staff we had 14,000 people at the old Rowntree’s works at a time when cars were scarce.

Whether it’s for commuting to work, going out on a day trip, or taking a cycling holiday abroad; our York factory employees have always been avid cyclists. Check out these images from our archive:
