NESTLÉ AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Creating Shared Value:
Nestlé in the UK & Ireland Sustainable Environmental Practices

Sustainability is central to Nestlé’s success as a business and as a company we put long-term business development at the heart of everything we do. Our commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility is reflected through our belief in Creating Shared Value: in order for a company to create something for its shareholders over the long term, it must bring value to society as a whole.

There are environmental impacts generated along the length of our supply chain – from our suppliers to our consumers. As a major food and beverage manufacturer in the UK and Ireland, there are a number of environmental impacts associated with the production of our products.

To find out more about how we are working to reduce our impact on the environment, please see the attached document (above right) Creating Shared Value: Nestlé in the UK & Ireland Sustainable Environmental Practices.

FareShare & FareShare1st

Nestlé UK has worked with the FareShare community food network and waste management company Ron Hull to create a one-stop shop for food industry waste - FareShare1st. FareShare1st receives all food companies' surplus food, distributes the good quality, edible food through FareShare's community food network and then, via Ron Hull, disposes of the remaining waste - recycling or reusing, or as soil substitute - in the most environmentally friendly way. Click here to find out more about FareShare and FareShare1st.

Water

Responsible management of worldwide water resources is an absolute necessity. Read Nestlé's policy on water use and sustainability here.
