NESTLÉ UK PROVIDES FUNDING FOR SOUTH AFRICAN ORGANISATION, ECOLINK
Nestlé UK is involved in an ongoing project to provide funding for the South African Organisation EcoLink for the construction of water tanks in the local community.

In 2005, ten concrete tanks were constructed and two jojo tanks were installed. The projects covered primary and high schools, women's clubs and clinics caring for the elderly, the poor, orphans and terminally ill patients.
These water tanks enabled some projects to start vegetable gardens, which help to feed people in their care, while some have gone further in selling produce to local community members and shops.
Here are some of the projects funded by Nestlé UK...
Siyabulela Home Based Care
The Siyabulela Home based care project is based at Mbonisweni Village near White River. The project cares for 150 orphans and 36 terminally ill patients. The group submitted a letter of request to EcoLink for a water tank to water their vegetable garden, which helps feed those in care. Two concrete tanks were constructed by the EcoLink water tank team during September 2005. EcoLink provided the material for the first tank and the group were able to provide the material for the second tank, the construction of which was supervised by EcoLink.
Lethokuhle pre-school
The Lethokuhle pre-school is based at Backdoor Village near Kabokweni. The school caters for 35 children (19 boys and 16 girls) and has two teachers. The school started a vegetable garden to provide vegetables for the children, but experienced a water shortage and requested EcoLink provide them with a water tank. A tank was constructed for the pre-school by the water tank team during October and November 2005.
Apostolic Faith Mission Group
The Apostolic Faith Mission group, consisting of 12 members, is based in Kabokweni and was established to assist the elderly, orphans and vulnerable children and the poor within the Church. The group submitted a letter of request to EcoLink for a water tank to support their vegetable garden, which helps feed those in their care. EcoLink's water tank team constructed a concrete tank which has been connected to municipal supply in Summer 2005.
