Vitamin D

- Even though natural sunlight can help provide vitamin D, do remember to wear sun block to avoid getting sunburnt.
Vitamin D helps to keep your bones healthy and some sunlight helps to provide with vitamin D, but please remember to use sun block protection as we don't want you to get sunburnt. If you have dark skin, or you cover your skin, you may be particularly at risk of vitamin D deficiency. Ask your doctor if you need to take a vitamin D supplement.
Good sources of vitamin D are:
- Sunlight
- Fish (remember, try and keep to no more than four medium portions a week)
- Eggs (always ensure your eggs are thoroughly cooked to prevent the risk of salmonella food poisoning)
- Dairy products (try to choose low fat varieties wherever possible)
