ALCOHOL AND SMOKING

- Protecting your baby right from pre-conception to birth will give your child the best start in life
Alcohol
Excessive alcohol intake is linked to decreased testosterone levels and a lower sperm count. Keeping alcohol consumption to a maximum of one or two drinks, once or twice per week, is recommended at this time.
Smoking
Studies have shown that smoking reduces sperm count so giving up may increase the likelihood of conception. Exposing a partner to cigarette smoke can be damaging to their health. Children whose parents smoke are exposed to harmful chemicals so quitting before the baby arrives is ideal.
It's never too late to stop smoking - maybe you and your partner could quit smoking together.
