Launched more than 130 years ago, ROWNTREE’S sweets are now the nation’s fruity favourite. ROWNTREE’S products are enjoyed by 15 million people every year with more single tubes of Fruit Pastilles sold than any other fruit confectionery product in the UK.
In 2005, ROWNTREE’S moved to no artificial colours, flavours and preservatives across its product range, the first in the fruit confectionery category to do so.
ROWNTREE’S sweets made in the UK are manufactured using 100 per cent renewable electricity at Nestlé’s factory in Fawdon, Newcastle. Up to 8% of the factory is powered by liquid and solid waste from the production of ROWNTREE’S sweets converted into energy by the on-site anaerobic digester. The process has helped the ROWNTREE’S factory reduce its green-house gas emissions, improved the quality of the water discharged from the factory and also means that the factory sends zero waste for disposal ensuring environmental efficiency and responsible manufacturing processes.
