‘DIY SOS’ volunteers thanked with Quality Street in biggest ever build

Producers

When the producers from the BBC’s ‘DIY SOS’ came looking for support with their biggest build to date, our Halifax team were quick to lend a hand.

Not only did we donate hundreds of tubs of Quality Street to help thank the volunteers, but Halifax  SHE Advisor Adam Phillips  also joined the DIY SOS team to help transform a derelict north Manchester street into new homes for war veterans.

“Being part of the DIY SOS team was a fantastic experience,” says Adam. “As a former Plant Operator Mechanic in the Royal Engineers, I understand some of the harsh realities our servicemen and women face on a daily basis. I was there for a number of days helping with the build and it was great to meet some of the people we were refurbishing homes for and make a difference.”

Adam adds, “Our Quality Street tubs were a great thank you for the guys on the final reveal day, and we also gave them to local residents in the area as a bit of a peace offering due to the amount of building work going on around their homes.”

The Nestlé Waters team in Buxton also donated 12,000 bottles of Nestlé Pure Life water to help the volunteers keep hydrated during 12 days of intense hard work.

The project is featured in two special 60-minute episodes of DIY SOS which air on BBC One on 14th and 21st October from 8pm.
