PURCHASING
Purchasing is the ‘front end’ of the entire supply chain and plays a crucial role in the management of material stocks and working capital. It’s a high risk, exciting area of the business, responsible for capital expenditure running into millions of pounds. We procure the raw ingredients and the packaging materials needed for each of our products, as well as the technical and engineering materials needed to manufacture them, so the next time you sit down to a KitKat Chunky, you’re unwrapping and eating the fruits of our hard labours.
Finding the right balance is key here - we seek to buy the best materials and secure the best suppliers for the best cost, while ensuring that the quality of our final product, and the time spent manufacturing it, still works in our favour.
Roles covering the European market will require excellent negotiation skills as these positions involve determining European strategies for spend categories, managing supplier portfolios, along with optimising total cost of supply. Working within the European market you must be comfortable working as part of a virtual team based across the UK and Europe.
Roles within UK Purchasing will include developing and enhancing relationships between existing suppliers and internal customers and assessing the ability of our suppliers to appreciate and meet our requirements. It is in this way that significant cost benefits, greater value and market leading innovation will be achieved.
All roles will require influencing with other Nestlé markets, working hard to understand their needs and strategy and selling in your solutions.
This challenging area within Nestlé will offer candidates the opportunity to gain significant exposure across Nestlé’s UK and European markets. When working in Purchasing, travel may be required within certain roles.
To be successful in Purchasing, you need to have strong influencing skills with a determination to succeed. You will be able to stay calm under pressure and come up with creative solutions to problems.
