LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT

Learning & Development (L&D) within Nestlé is business focused, with a team of passionate, professional and knowledgeable experts in development, all from varied backgrounds and experience.  We operate within Nestlé UK & Ireland's HR 'three-box model', with us supporting HR Business Partners to develop cutting edge development interventions to support business growth.  Our business-strategy driven development agenda changes in line with business needs, in line with our business planning to process to identify learning needs for the organisation.

Our focus is on key areas of skills development within the organisation including leadership, functional-specific, core skills and project related.  Our Leadership programme, 'Lead2Win', launched in 2006, is the most far-reaching and ambitious development programme we've ever undertaken.  With four key modules supported by Action Learning, everyone from Board members to junior management are developing their skills to ensure Nestlé people are building our winning organisation for the future.  Development of our winning culture and behaviours is being embedded in the business, with support from Board members, senior management and HR.  That's not to say there's not a lot of work to do to really make this live in the organisation and think about the next steps for the development of our leadership population.  In addition, we have a range of ever-changing skills modules, directly influenced by business strategy; masterclasses for senior leaders to learn from external influences and talent development solutions for our High Potential population.

Functional development is also very important within Nestlé.  With development projects taking place in a number of our functions, key work has taken place in our Manufacturing, Supply Chain and HR functions in order to develop the skills of people in these areas.  Our core skills programmes are mainly delivered by external partners, but with a clear focus on ensuring they are externally benchmarked, best-in-class and innovative, using 'bite-sized', 2-hour interventions and real practice with actors where-ever possible.  Project support comes in determining key business change projects or areas of focus for the organisation and working closely to develop skills required for these business changes.  We also lead the development of our performance management processes, development and strategy.

The team is made up of a number of roles, with team members based in our York and Croydon Head Offices.  L&D Specialists, and Senior L&D Specialists link into business areas through key relationships with HR Business Partners and Directors, work on key organisational projects and design and deliver bespoke and general, business-focused development interventions.  The Manufacturing Training Manager and Training Specialist work on up-skilling our Manufacturing employees, working with Factory Senior Leadership teams to develop strategy for improving Manufacturing skills, knowledge and sharing within our factories in the UK.  Our E-Media Resourcer guides the way for using technological methodologies to improve the learning experience and develop IT skills training with our external partners.  Our Core Skills Manager looks after our supplier contracts, working with L&D Specialists to ensure the Core Skills offer to our staff is relevant, timely and best-in-class.  Our admin team support the smooth running of the team and ensure we are doing what we should be!

To be successful within L&D, you need sound influencing abilities, results focus, creativity and insight, and above all else, be passionate about developing our people to grow our business for the future.
