Many organisations claim to be operating the Business Partner and Shared Services model but in reality their Business Partners are just ‘re-branded’ HR managers who are still involved in transactional activities. To us, Business Partnership is not a new concept. It’s long been bandied around the profession as the Big Idea. But we believe that the concept has never before been executed with such unnerving commitment, corporate-wide support and individual empowerment. We’re not talking about a re-jigging of job descriptions and nametags, a ‘human capital initiative for a winning team’ or the latest whim of an HR Director. For us, this has been a fundamental shift in the role of HR. Back in 2001, we created centres of expertise in Recruitment Services, Talent Management and International HR, Learning and Development, Information and Administration, Reward and Employee Relations and Policy. We then sent our HR Business Partners out into the organisation to go and focus on business partnership – and that alone. Since then we’ve come a long way and have contributed a huge amount to the business. Now we are really proud to be recognised within Nestlé globally as the most advanced HR function - now wouldn’t that be great to be part of?
