UK Sales Accountant
I joined Nestlé UK in the summer of 1998 as a Management Accountant in the Food Division, working with the commercial teams on brands like Buitoni, Maggi and Herta to grow sales and profitability. I was quickly promoted to the role of Assistant Financial Controller of the Food Division with responsibility for monthly reporting and managing the book close process across all product categories in the division.
Following a restructure within the division in Spring 2002 I was promoted to Finance Manager of the Imported Foods and Out of Home business units. However, I was not in this position for long, as a brand new division - Foodservices - was created in 2003 and I was asked to work within it, working on the Confectionery Vending business. This role involved me relocating the finance functions of the vending business from Halifax to Croydon.
After 18 months in this role I was offered another position of Project Accountant which meant supporting the Innovation teams for the whole of the Foodservices business and providing the financial input to ‘Foodservice Rewards’, our leading loyalty scheme in the Foodservice sector, which was a major initiative for the division. It is at this time that I also started work on an MBA at Henley Management College, supported by the company. I’ve been in my current role as UK Sales Accountant for 18 months, supporting the Corporate and Divisional Sales Director on commercial projects and having overall responsibility for financial control of trade promotion spend in the company.
Throughout my time, Nestlé has supported my development by providing roles that are increasingly challenging and varied, but also providing the training and development opportunities that allow me to be successful in those roles. I’m sure this will continue in my future career at Nestlé.
