Assistant Sales Accountant
I left School at 18 after doing my A-levels and joined a large Retail Head Office as a Finance Assistant. I undertook various roles including Control Accounts Assistant, Creditor Analyst, Internal Auditor and Management Accountant for the Property Division. Throughout this time I completed my AAT and started my CIMA studies.
I joined Nestlé in June 2005 as a Part Qualified Accountant within the Finance and Reporting Department as an Assistant Reporting Accountant on a 6 month temporary contract.
I worked on the Foodservice part of the business carrying out monthly reporting, forecasting and setting up the Operating Plan. My role initially involved reconciling accounts on the new system GLOBE.
I became permanent in January 2006 and my role changed slightly due to a re-structure and included analysing specific lines of the P&L. This gave me exposure to other divisions and a better understanding of the P&L.
In October 2006 I joined the Sales Finance team as the Assistant Sales Accountant. This role involves controlling costs of the sales teams, Training commercial people on Trade Spend and becoming an expert on Trade Spend to help the business manage this effectively. My role also includes ad-hoc project work for the Sales Director and other business areas.
Since joining Nestlé I have been supported to become Part Qualified and I am now a Passed Finalist with only the Top CIMA exam to go. The study package here is very generous.
