JON
Financial Analyst
I joined Nestlé in January 2001 as the Assistant Control Accountant, working in the Rowntree Division. The main purpose of this role was to provide a financial control service, supporting the Control Accountant and Director of Financial Control. This included consolidation of divisional profit information for Actuals, Forecasts and the Operational Plan (Budget), and preparation of management reports for presentation to the Nestlé Rowntree Division Management Committee (Board). It also involved liaison with Group Finance in relation to the consolidation of the divisional results into Nestlé UK.
After three years I moved into a Commercial role, as a Financial Analyst. This role provides financial support to the Sales department. It encompasses such things as planning and forecasting the revenue, trade investment and general profitability of the individual customers, ensuring the trade spend in the books is an accurate reflection for the month and year to date and checking that the promotions being run are an efficient use of trade expenditure by doing a pre and post evaluation.
Throughout my time with Nestlé, the company supported my progress through the CIMA examinations to full qualification. The company has a good study support package, covering the cost of tuition and exam entry.
Also, Nestlé have a formalised appraisal process, whereby my line manager and I will discuss my performance to date and what my future career aspirations are. This is an open and honest dialogue which provides invaluable feedback.
