LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT
You'll hear plenty of companies talk about 'the importance of people'. But it means something special at Nestlé. We give our people all the time, support and training they need to do well.

LIFELONG LEARNING
Depending on where you work in the business, CI can stand for 'Continuous Improvement' or 'Creativity & Innovation'. The terms change but the aim is very much the same: in a business that thrives by trying to get a little bit better each day, training and career development are always going to be critical. Advances in our products, processes and profits all depend on people who are eager to learn new skills and gain new experience.
SUPPORTING LEARNING
We see learning as a continuous process rather than an occasional event, and it can happen in many different ways. We have a vast learning and development intranet site that helps you manage your own learning. It includes formal training programmes ranging from management skills to forklift driving and you can book places online. Our E-Learning facilities allow you to pursue training options at your own pace and convenience.
CONTRIBUTION CULTURE
A lot of the responsibility for fulfilling your potential will rest with you: we will provide all the tools and support you need but, ultimately, it will be up to you to manage your own development. Of course, this kind of 'contribution culture' doesn't suit everyone. If you're looking for a job where tomorrow is going to be pretty much like today, Nestlé may not be right for you. In every role, in every part of our business, we look for people who want to know more, to do more, and to achieve more.

EARLY DAYS
Support from Learning & Development kicks in as soon as you accept a job offer from Nestlé. Before you start, we will contact your manager to ensure that he or she is developing the right kind of induction programme for you. At the same time as you get sent your offer letter and contract, you will receive a comprehensive induction CD telling you all about the business. We will drop you an email to remind you of what's on offer, and we will also invite you to start thinking about the support and development you will be looking for as your career with Nestlé takes off. We put a lot of effort into getting your induction absolutely right. And we'll check back with you to make sure you got what you wanted and needed. The feedback we have received to date shows that new joiners find their introduction to the business both interesting and rewarding. We hope you will feel the same way.
CAREER DEVELOPMENT
The idea of career development is, for obvious reasons, usually presented as a benefit to the individual. However, it also matters to us as a business that people rise to bigger challenges and fulfil their potential. Our business can grow only if our people do. That's why we have 'Resource Groups' across the company who meet regularly to identify high-potential individuals within the business and plan development paths for them. It's an important principle that anybody in the company can be promoted and rise to greater things.
