ADVANCED APPRENTICESHIP IN ENGINEERING

One of the ways we are doing this is to continue to recruit and develop the skills that we need for the future. As a result of this we have a number of opportunities within Dalston factory for an Advanced Apprentice in Engineering starting in September 2008.
Successful candidates will follow the Advanced Apprenticeship Training Programme leading to a level 3 Engineering NVQ in line with SEMTA/EAL (Science Engineering and Marine Training Authority) requirements after 4 years, with the possibility of further academic study and achievements leading to advanced career opportunities for suitable candidates.
The Training Programme:
• A 1st year full time study course at College.
• Further 3 years of study consisting of one day per week at college and 4 days on the job practical working experience and training.
• Training covering a number of individual engineering skills in the factory, in both electrical and mechanical engineering.
• An understanding of the factory’s quality, hygiene and safety standards and procedures.
• Working in different plants learning about a wide range of manufacturing and packing equipment.
Entry Qualification:
• You will need to achieve (or be expecting to achieve) 5 GCSEs at grade C or above in mathematics, English, and science plus two other subjects or equivalent qualifications.
• You will have a positive and flexible attitude to work and a desire to learn new skills.
• You will need to have a commitment to quality, hygiene and safety.
• You will have the ability to solve problems and demonstrate initiative.

• The programme commences September 2008.
• An attractive starting salary to enable you to earn while you learn! The rate increases yearly on successful completion of training.
