Supply Chain

If you want a career with unrivalled exposure, second-to-none training, the world’s best opportunities and a portfolio CV to be proud of, look no further than Supply Chain. As the biggest food company in the world, Nestlé boasts one of the most sophisticated supply chains on the planet. As a result, every success (and, by definition, every failure) is multiplied to the nth degree. For the right type of person, that should be an exhilarating prospect, something that will catapult them out of averagesville and into superstardom. If you want to be in demand, get into Supply.

When we describe our Supply Chain as the engine room of our business, we mean it. The success of our whole organisation relies on this hugely complex, multi-million pound operation. In the massive range of roles you could find yourself in, you’ll get involved at every stage of every product we produce: from concept to delivery. And because of all this complex involvement, you’ll quickly come to appreciate the real team ethos and community spirit that’s evolved here.

We’ve got a tremendous amount to offer a talented, commercially-savvy individual like you. For a start there’s our 18-month rotation programme. It’s not the ‘general introduction to the company’ you might get on a traditional graduate scheme. This is real, no-holds-barred business experience. You’ll receive at least three front-line roles and exposure to the entire supply chain, where you’ll be called upon to make crucial decisions, run high-value projects and deal with senior people.

You could be involved in purchasing - researching and analysing supply markets, discovering alternative products and sourcing new suppliers. This will see you hone your negotiation skills, draft contracts and develop very productive supplier relationships.

Then there’s planning. This is all about understanding the huge range of factors that influence product demand and interpreting information to develop robust plans. You won’t just be concerned with creating an agreed sales forecast/business plan, you’ll find yourself deciding where and when products are made, and where they need to be sent.

Others might be attracted to the physical supply chain - in distribution, where they’ll address vital warehouse issues, be responsible for distribution centre output and manage the transport fleets. Or alternatively, customer service could be spot on. Here, you’ll be involved in everything from order capture to customer stock levels, overseeing promotional orders to understanding the impact on Nestlé of changes to customer supply chains.

Wherever your rotations take you, you’ll have to come to terms with a very intense, results-focused, deadline-driven culture. Luckily, you’ll prove you have the resilience and speed of thought to resolve key problems; the creativity, initiative and dedication to achieve improbable results; and the credibility and confidence to influence colleagues, customers and managers alike.
