INTRODUCTION TO STUDENT ISSUES

At Nestlé we are conscious that large organisations are subject to scrutiny around practices, especially in the developing world. As part of the ongoing process of addressing these issues, we have been involved in a range of activities that allow us to engage with stakeholders and listen to the concerns that are raised.

During the last few years, we have been engaged in constructive dialogue with student bodies, discussing topics such as:

• The WHO Code is implemented as a minimum standard in the developing world by Nestlé
• The role of infant formula in the developing world
• Nestlé's support for community projects in the developing world and in the UK
• Boycotting Nestlé reduces the capacity for freedom of choice 
• The situation in Ethiopia 
• Fair trade coffee
• The issue relating to cocoa working practices
• Nestlé's continued dialogue with ethical investment companies, churches and NGOs
• The issue of free supplies of baby milk in the developing world
