Nestlé is a founder member of the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative (SAI) which was launched in 2002. SAI works to improve sustainable agricultural practices and production systems and to enhance their efficiency. It is contributing to the development of guidelines for the sustainable production of three major commodities including coffee.
Palm Oil
Nestlé is committed to using only Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) by 2015, when sufficient quantities are expected to be available.
Cocoa & Coffee
Nestlé will invest CHF 460 million over the next 10 years to boost its sustainability initiatives in cocoa and coffee. Through its pioneering plant science programme, the Company will supply 38 million high quality, disease–resistant plantlets to farmers helping them rejuvenate their farms and increase productivity.
